This book is a mixed bag, being a compilation of several peoples' opinions. I like the article about what do do when you first become CEO of an existing company: Listen. Knowledge needed for change already exists in the organization. People tend to know what is right and wrong. So first, get peoples views on how things stand. Ask: what do you think are the major issues we face? If you were CEO, where would you spend your time and attention?
Have conversations with all leaders to arrive at common view and clarity of purpose.
Conduct these interviews with all managers across the company. What works, what doesn't, what needs to be done. Then have management sit in and discuss the results. They then must arrive at proposals, how to address the issues. Let the collector task force hear these and also come up with ideas.
And don't change basic values, ethics, and the purpose of the company.
Never drop an issue a director is concerned about.
